That lovely purple stuff: is it rock or glass or what?
I'm pretty sure it's glass. It's flush with the footpath - I think it covers up some ground level lighting. There are a few like it along Grenfell Street, although I don't think I've ever seen any working.
Ideally there'd be light going through them, you mean? How beautiful.
Ideally, yeah.
Seems that I was wrong. I've just been informed that this glass is most likely to be a skylight for the basements of the buildings along the street. Seems quite obvious, really...
