Thanks twinki. I usually overlook the ground of a side street on my first walk along it, tending to look at walls and the higher up places first and the ground later. Maybe that's just a reflection of the way I notice my surroundings.

I almost always think of Commander Samuel Vimes of the Ankh-Morpork Watch from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series when I'm out taking photos. He likes to wear cheaply made shoes with thin cardboard soles when he's walking the beat, so that he can identify the street he is in by the way the pavers, cobblestones and other features of the ground feel through his soles. That's the kind of closeness I want to get with the city.

I'm hoping to take some more photos on the weekend. Probably on Sunday, as I've got the Mullet Festival on Saturday afternoon. School holidays start in two weeks so I'll be posting almost daily during the two weeks I have off.
