Elizabeth Street II

I tend to avoid taking photos of things that aren't a permanent fixture of a street, prefering instead to capture something that other people might feel compelled to go and take a look at for themselves.

There always seems to be a lot of building going on in Adelaide. Maybe cities everywhere are like that. Cranes reach out of the skyline as they take apart old buildings and put together new ones.

Everything is getting older, from the newly constructed office complex with its new-carpet smell to the crumbling walls of some forgotten building with boarded-up windows. For everything there is the briefest moment of being new, just before the clock starts winding down.

In the infinite reach of time, a broken umbrella on the footpath is insignificantly less permanent than a building rooted to the earth. The building may be on the street longer than the umbrella but will one day be forgotten just the same.

Maybe the comic book about Bodhidharma that I read recently is having a greater effect on me than I originally anticipated...

Hey foolish - thanks for the comment. Just out of curiosity, how did you "stumble across" my blog? A couple of people have said the same thing and I'm just interested to know how people end up here.

It would be great to hear something about the alleys in Melbourne...

Hey Sparrow,

Basically i came across your blog like this. I clicked on things on my profile ( like my favourtie book or something) and then people with the same interests comes up. And then i just look through profiles then ppl's blogs and then tada! found yours! I took interest in yours seeing as your in autralia too. Well, and i am guilty of spending too much time on the internet in an attempt to avoid h.w ( not a good additude for yr 12 i know :/ )

Apoligize, havent really been able to get a look at alleys recently ( skool 7 days a week), i shall try and get my hands on some photos pronto tho.

Take care
